MyWalkingGuide.com was set up in 2011 to produce guidebooks for walkers. So far we have guides to two of Britain’s favourite long distance walks, the Dales Way and the Cumbria Way, and others are in the pipeline.
As you will see from the Featured Books and Guides section above, we also offer other books connected with walking and the Lake District. Up the Country is one person’s account of a walk from Land’s End to John o’Groats, and The Story of the English Lake District is a large-format book (with 500 colour photographs) about the landscape and people of one of England’s favourite walking destinations.
The two main concepts behind MyWalkingGuide.com are, first and foremost, to provide detailed route directions (with helpful photographs and GPS waypoints) and, secondly, to provide walkers with enough extra information to enable you to arrange your very own tailor-made walking holiday.
This extra information is provided in the form of downloads and consists of an accommodation listing (of all known camp sites, bunk barns, inns, farmhouses, guesthouses and hotels on the route); a GPS waypoint listing; and a walkers’ companion containing information about the places passed through on the walk, hints and tips on how to tackle the walk and other stuff besides.
